Charge Issued In Jail Assault
Charges were issued against an inmate at the Lawrence County Detention Center in connection with an assault incident that took place Tuesday.
Reports show that inmate John Curtis Kingsbury, II, age 21, was charged with assaulting another inmate.
A corrections officer reported hearing something hitting the door in one unit. He said that an inmate was standing at the door and that Kingsbury was yelling and cursing him. He reports seeing Kingsbury strike the inmate in the face repeatedly before other corrections officers arrived on the scene.
The inmates were separated. Kingsbury was placed on lockdown for a period of seven days while the other inmate was returned to one of the units. No serious injuries were noted.
A warrant was issued, charging Kingsbury with one count of assault. It requires that he appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 20, 2013.
